About us
The firm was founded in 1991 by Jon Comyn-Platt and Danny Halpern, who met at South Manchester Law Centre.
Our aims
The firm is committed to providing the highest quality service to all our clients, and, in particular, to clients on low incomes and from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our offices
We have 3 offices: Rusholme, Oldham and Manchester City Centre.
Our work
Our areas of specialism are: Crime, Family and Child Care, Housing, Personal Injury, Actions Against Police, Prison Law and Welfare Benefits and Debt.
Legal aid
We are committed to legal aid work. This means that we will always provide our services under the legal aid scheme, if it is available to you. The legal aid scheme is run by the Legal Services Commission (LSC).
The Community Legal Service (CLS) deals with legal aid for people with civil problems such as family breakdowns, housing and debt. The Criminal Defence Service (CDS) deals with legal aid for people who are under police investigation or facing criminal charges.
Private clients
Our service is the same, whether you are receiving legal aid or paying privately. We believe that you will not find better legal representation anywhere for your legal problems, and we will give the best value for money if you are not eligible for public funding. At your first meeting we will tell you how we calculate our charges. Whenever possible we will give you a detailed breakdown of the estimated total costs.
